night of the roses

The Trifecta Gala, held at the Kentucky Derby in 2024 on the eve of the race’s 150th anniversary, honored the significant contributions of African Americans to Derby history. With performances by Bruno Mars, the event paid tribute to the rich legacy of African American involvement, blending reverence for the past with a vision for the future.

Guests enjoyed a signature bourbon cocktail from Woodford Reserve and a specialty photo booth that invited them to join a picture wall of Derby legends. Gallery walls highlighted the original African American jockeys, with 13 of the first 15 riders being African American.

The grand hall featured a custom-lit Trifecta sign, an abstract stage installation inspired by the Churchill Downs spires, and floral chandeliers. A custom horse sculpture by Damon Davis floated above the racetrack cocktail bar. The two tents were linked by an immersive LED tunnel that enveloped guests in the Derby’s sights, sounds, and smells.

Organized by The Bridgeman Family, this year’s gala combined sophisticated entertainment with a meaningful tribute to historical contributions, creating a powerful and celebratory atmosphere. The Trifecta Gala continues to celebrate heritage and progress with elegance and flair.
